Maps and Data

• Census Reporter - VERY useful tool for visualizing and accessing Census and American Community Survey data.
• Dexter tool for exporting American Community Survey data for the entire US. I use it to annually update my ACS income data.
• Racial Dot Map (uses blocks - so greater accuracy than the NYT map)
• Mapping America (uses counties and census tracts - less accuracy for race, but also includes income and other maps)
• Compare 2000 and 2010 census - block level. Highest resolution map of census race data (though only includes some of the states).
• Social Explorer (has race at the block group level, several methods of visualization, and color schemes - in the free version)
• Policy Map - a competitor to Social Explorer - lots of Census (and other) data
• American Community Survey - API - by the Census Bureau.
• EJ Screen - EPA's environmental justice map. Includes environmental and demographic data.

Dot Maps on JusticeMap
You can view the dot map layers creaetd by Dustin Cable on JusticeMap.org. These do a better job of handling varying population density than other layers. The downside is that they are cluttered. These work for zoom levels 4-13.
